Cry out in your weakness
I really, really like this poem, Cry Out In Your Weakness, I found over at dailyrumi:

And let the milk of loving flow into you...Collapse )

I thought it was beautiful. Rumi does wonderful things for my soul.

(So many great things that I'm compelled to share, so I'm cross-posting to boob_nazis, doulas, alternparents, birthing_fun, and ahavah. When I like it, I pimp it. Hope you enjoy.)

Hello, all. I have asked the mods permission to post this Ad in every community that it is going up in.

I have made a new community, bf_mommy_pics, and anyone who would like to join is invited. :)

It is moderated submission, but I am almost always online, so it sould be a pretty quick response.

Thank you.

Reiki & Pregnancy/Childbirth
Hello, friends! I have been asked by my local doula group (of which I am a member) to give a short presentation on Reiki and the benefits of Reiki during labor/birth. I've only had one client request my Reiki services so far, and then I have my own experience with Reiki during the birth of my second daughter.

I would love to have a bit more information on this before my presentation in February. I realize this is all anecdotal information, although if you happen to be aware of any research in this area, I would be most grateful.

Thank you for sharing! I would be glad to post info from my presentation when it's ready.

Many Blessings,

Take the Breastfeeding Poll!
From Dr. Phil's site:

The Latest Debates

Dr. Phil and his guests engage in heated discussions about topics that are making headlines and stirring up controversy across the country.

Breast-Feeding In Public

Synnora says it's a mother's right to breast-feed anywhere, anytime. Shelly says it's inappropriate and she doesn't want to see it.

"It can still be natural in the bathroom or in your car," says Shelly.

Do you think it's OK to breast-feed in public?

Take our survey.

Do you enjoy eating in the bathroom?

It has been so long!
I feel like it's been forever since I posted here!

I am due in December, and I'm working on being as healthy as I can for the birth.

I still haven't decided on a hospital/birth center!

I really want to try hypnosis, though.

Any advice?

Mom to Be!!!
Hi! My name is Mia and I am about 32 weeks preggers. I am due to have my first child on June 9, 2005 and can't wait! I currently live in California and am having my baby at a birthing center in the tub, YES!! I'm really excited. And to top it off I'm also doing hypnonirthing as well. I'm hoping for a good labor. I figure with the water birth and the hypnobirthing it's bound to go good right? Well, I know nothing is guaranteed, but however it happens or whatever complications I might have to go though, I know it'll be worth it!

Off-topic, but important
SO, since bush has been re-elected, I think it's important to let him know that women's rights matter. I was e-mailed this link to send bush and e-mail, and I think it's a great idea. If you think that women's rights matter, and you want your voice heard, please go here and follow the steps to send a letter.

Hello there. Thanks for having me. My name is Nicole. I'm 26 and I have a beautiful baby girl named Estella Michelle. I wanted to join because I have fun telling her birth story.

My water broke on July 28, 2004. I didn't know it. I was only 33 weeks along and didn't expect it. Read more...Collapse )It didn't really sink in until later that she was mine. I was about to go to sleep in my room and it hit me. I called the nursery to let them know that I was going and I headed up. I sat by her side holding her little hand and bawled.

I joined to tell you all my wonderful experience. I planned drug free. I believe we are made to do it. I'm a new mommy. My son was induced. After six hours of unusually long hard contractions I gave up. I was hyperventalating. I got the epidural at five centimeters. I was dissapointed, but it was still a wonderful experience. I still felt the urge to push. That pressure is unbeleivable. An hour and a half after the epidural I was ready to push. Fifteen minutes and he was out. If I could I would have done it natural. No Pitocin. I'm giving birth in a birthing center next time. It will be short. In my family we have short labors.
I wanted to let you all know that the epidural didn't ruin my birth experience just in case your induced and things don't go as planned. 1 in 5 are induced. Two women I know had previous success with a natural birth, but with their third babies, they were induced and said it is worse and they couldn't do without the epidural. Don't be let down.

So, I thought it would be nice if I told a little about me and my birth stories to get things going. I'll make it kinda short and simple so it doesn't get too boaring!

My first son, Thadeus, was born on Dec 30, 2000 in a hospital after 26 hours of labor! My mother, aunt, and Doula were there for his birth. After about 23 hours of labor, I got an IV to "take the edge off". Thad weighed 8.13.

Willem was born on Sept 24, 2003. He was born in a birth center after 2 weeks of "silent labor" one night of spinning babies class and 28 hours of labor. my husband, doula and 2 mid wifes were there. His birth was all natural, and he was almost born in the water. Willy weighed 9 and a half pounds!

My opinion is that hospitals are for sick people. If you are a healthy woman, and the pregnancy is normal, there is no reason you should be in a hospital. If I had been more informed, I would have had Thad in a birth center, and that is why I started this community.

So, if you want to share your birth story or ask questions or just talk about pregnancy and birth, here is a place to do it! I hope everyone will have fun, and please respect everyone's opinions and ideas! Thank you!
